Dr. Aysel Gülle, Attorney at Law, presented a paper titled “The Actor’s Digital Twin in the Age of Artificial Intelligence: Reconstructing the Regime of Consent and Contractual Protection” at the 4th International Symposium on Current Developments in Intellectual Property Law (Balıkesir University, 6–7 May 2026).
The paper examined how performing artists’ personality rights and economic interests can be protected in an era where generative AI technologies enable the digital reproduction of actors’ voices, facial features, and performance characteristics. Drawing on a comparative analysis of SAG-AFTRA collective bargaining agreements in the United States and the Turkish legal framework, a multilayered contractual protection model was proposed.
